Ways to Give

Your Impact

Because of donors like you, RISE scholars are able to pursue higher education, build meaningful relationships with mentors, and create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Together, we are breaking cycles and building futures.

At RISE, every gift opens a door. Your support provides scholarships, mentoring, and life-changing opportunities for students with incarcerated parents—helping them pursue higher education and build brighter futures.

There are many meaningful ways to support us:

make a one-time gift

Donate stock and securities

make a bigger impact through stock giving

why give stock?

When you donate appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, or mutual funds) directly to RISE, you may receive significant tax benefits:

Avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated assets

Receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value (if held long-term)

Make a larger gift than you might with cash alone

It’s a smart way to give—and a meaningful way to invest in a student’s future.

how to donate stock

Making a stock gift is simple:

Contact your broker to initiate the transfer

Request RISE’s transfer instructions (see below)

Notify us of your gift so we can properly acknowledge it and ensure it is directed to our mission

Because stock transfers often arrive without identifying information, notifying us is an important step.

WHY RISE?

Parental incarceration affects millions of children across the United States, disrupting stability during critical stages of development.

• Over half of incarcerated individuals are parents, many with young children.

• Thousands of these children are under age five when a parent is imprisoned.

• Nearly 5 million children in the U.S. have experienced parental incarceration.

Without consistent support, these young people face increased barriers to academic success and long-term opportunity.

RISE works to break down barriers for students affected by parental incarceration by connecting them with mentoring and educational opportunity.
