Job Description: Part Time Mentoring Coordinator 

ABOUT RISE 
Founded in 1997, RISE is a small Providence-based nonprofit focused on the educational success of children with incarcerated parents. One of the ways this is achieved is through our Mentoring Program and we are seeking a dynamic professional to take the lead of this essential aspect of our work. We are seeking a dynamic Part Time Mentoring Coordinator who is meticulous, driven, compassionate, and a team player. The best person for this role will have excellent interpersonal skills and administrative abilities. The Mentoring Coordinator will report to the Director of Operations and work with a team of volunteers. 

JOB DUTIES 
Program Direction Work with staff to ensure all aspects of the program are of high quality and responsive to the needs of families. This includes working with staff on mentor recruitment, screening, training and matching as well as child and family intake, home visits, ongoing relationship facilitation, data collection and management, and evaluation. 

Casework
Maintain primary responsibility for overseeing mentoring pairs. This includes proactive family and mentor check-ins, providing issue based support, problem solving, and connecting families to additional resources when necessary. Record all activity in an online data base. 

Events
Plan monthly events that are fun, educational, and provide a broader support system for mentees and mentors, created monthly listings of additional opportunities in the community, and build the community of mentoring pairs to feel connected to and supported by RISE. As well, coordinate broader family engagement events. 

Training
Lead monthly mentor trainings, cultivate partnerships to increase training capacity, and design ongoing training opportunities. Create open meetings with mentors for support, group problem solving, and recognition, including the Mentor Leadership Team.

Mentor Recruitment
Build and operationalize a mentor recruitment strategy that includes corporations, hospitals, higher education, and other creative strategies. Manage a high quality screening and interview process.

Communications
Work with RISE staff to update the website, Facebook, blog, newsletters, appeals, and email blasts with pertinent celebrations and needs of the program. Be a savvy public representative of RISE and an outgoing advocate for the importance of our work.

Collaboration
Help plan and execute with RISE staff major activities and initiatives. Actively participate in planning meetings, data analysis, and organizational improvement strategies. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with families from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Work experience in the field of Mentoring, Social Work, Youth Development, Community Organizing, Nonprofits, and/or Schools.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills. Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Independent and self-motivated while also responsive to direction. Flexible, creative and positive.
