Rise Services
There are currently 200 children receiving support from RISE through two primary interventions: scholarship support, and the community- and site-based mentoring programs. Children may participate in one or both of these components.
Site-Based Mentoring Program
RISE’s site-based mentoring initiative was established in January 2010 in partnership with Private Partners Ventures (PPV)’s Amachi Mentoring Coalition Project.
Through this program RISE matches children living in neighborhoods with high rates of incarceration with volunteer mentors. Mentors meet with their mentees at a pre-determined RISE site (Boys & Girls Club at Hartford Park, Boys & Girls Club at Chad Brown, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Academy) for an hour once each week and spend time doing 1:1 activities such as playing board games, listening to music, visiting the computer lab, etc. RISE staff is on site each week and engages pairs in team-building and group activities.
